Originally from Southern Africa, Barbara McGuire—known as ‘Bee’ to friends and family—has always been fascinated by the natural world. While studying Fine Art, she discovered a love for children’s picture books and has since written and illustrated many titles. Now based in Western Australia, Barbara recently retired from teaching art to children and returned to creating picture books. Barbara is especially enchanted by Australia’s native orchids. Each spring, their quiet magic inspires her to explore the West Australian bushland—and to share that wonder with young readers through her art and stories.
